LSU Tigers guard MiLaysia Fulwiley is going up against her former team, the South Carolina Gamecocks, for the first time since she departed, with pre-game antics setting the tone for a sure-fire matchup. On Saturday, Feb. 14, a Valentine’s Day special was on display between Fulwiley and the rest of coach Kim Mulkey’s 2025-26 Tigers playing hosts against coach Dawn Staley’s South Carolina gamecocks on their home court, the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
But, before the game commenced, it seems as though the Gamecocks did not respond too kindly when they saw Fulwiley in person, for the first time since her departure, in an LSU uniform. This was captured by @@andrechampagnee on X/Twitter, in which he posted a quick clip that shows the Gamecocks giving the “side-eye” to Fulwiley as she went down the court for warm-ups. Fulwiley passed by her former team’s bench, but did not interact with them.
However, in another report by women’s basketball reporter Lulu Kesin on her X/Twitter account, Fulwiley actually had a wholesome interaction with a couple of her former teammates. According to Kesin, she witnessed Fulwiley head back to the locker room and when she returned to the court, she went over the Gamecocks’ warmup shooting lines. There, she allegedly greeted South Carolina guards Tessa Johnson and Raven Johnson.
Fulwiley had a controversial exit from the Gamecocks back in the 2025 offseason as it came to a surprise to many that she transferred to the Tigers out of nowhere. This is especially fueled by the fact that South Carolina and LSU have been bitter conference rivals throughout the 2020’s decade, sharing several SEC postseason battles. Fulwiley is now in her third year of collegiate hoops, having been a part of the Gamecocks’ 2024 national championship run already.
The LSU Tigers Home Crowd Showed Out For MiLaysia Fulwiley Versus Their Conference Rivals
While the South Carolina Gamecocks as a whole seemed like they were snubbing MiLaysia Fulwiley, the LSU Tigers home crowd expectedly showed out for Fulwiley. In a video uploaded by @SECNetwork on X/Twitter, Fulwiley was seen checking into the heated regular season game and was met with a standing ovation from the crowd.
