“Pretty Gutsy”: Audi Crooks Reveals Jacie Hoyt’s Surprising Recruiting Strategy to Get Her to Oklahoma State

Audi Crooks decided to make the switch to Oklahoma State in the transfer portal earlier this year. She has now spoken about the “gutsy” decision by head coach Jacie Hoyt that led her to switch from Iowa State to Oklahoma.

Crooks went into detail about her visit to Oklahoma State, where a well-prepared Jacie Hoyt wasted no time in showing her how she had missed a bunch of layups via a reel showcasing the chances that could have been converted. It clearly left a lasting impression on her.

“It was at the midpoint of the visit, and she’d put together some clips, and it was like a lowlight reel. It was just a bunch of missed layups. And I thought to myself, ‘Man, that’s pretty gutsy for you to sit here and show me everything I’m doing wrong,'” Crooks said, per NCAA March Madness.

Listed at 6 feet 3 inches tall, Audi Crooks was one of the most sought-after talents in the women’s college basketball transfer portal. Following a successful few years at Iowa State, she believed Oklahoma State was the right place for her to move.

Audi Crooks Explained What She Was Looking For Before She Announced Oklahoma State Move

Just a day before she officially announced her transfer to Oklahoma State, Audi Crooks explained what she was looking for from a new team in the transfer portal.

“Absolutely. I’m looking for culture, number one, first and foremost, somewhere with good people,” Crooks said, per Sports Illustrated.

“Number two, somewhere with some shooters. I need a little help from the outside to be an inside-outside threat type of team, and a dual threat team. And number three, somewhere that is gonna push me, push me hard, and develop me into who I want to be.”

Soon after this statement, Audi Crooks announced she was leaving for Oklahoma State via an Instagram post highlighting the next phase of her career. Oklahoma State will be hoping that the addition of Crooks gives them a better chance at competing in the Big 12 this coming season.
