“You Don’t Just Look the Other Way”: Kim Mulkey Sounds Off on MiLaysia Fulwiley’s 4-Turnover Night Despite LSU Win

Kim Mulkey’s LSU Tigers registered a dominant 92-70 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks. This win extends their winning streak to six games and marks their 20th win of the season, with only two losses.

At halftime, the game was closer than the final result suggests. The Tigers only had a three-point lead. Then in the third quarter, they went on a 33-17 run, and the Razorbacks couldn’t recover from it until the final buzzer.

As dominant as Mulkey’s team was in the game, they had a few struggles on the court as well. The Tigers had 15 turnovers. MiLaysia Fulwiley, who came off the bench for 19 minutes, accounted for four of those 15 turnovers.

Fulwiley also struggled with shooting from the field, going 2-9 and 1-3 from beyond the arc for five points. At the post-game presser, Mulkey talked about Fulwiley’s struggles and how she’s planning to work it out with her.

“I don’t like that she was 2 for 9,” Mulkey said. “But I gotta go back and look at the shots…That’s basketball, it happens. What I start with MiLaysia is turnovers. She had four turnovers tonight.”

Mulkey said that she’ll have to work it out with her coaching staff and understand what went wrong and how things can get better for her.

“I think she’s grown. I think she has come a long way. Some of the things she does, you do live with. But not until you continue to make her better in certain areas. You don’t just look the other way and let it cost you a game, you be a little bit patient with her,” Mulkey added.

Mulkey stated that her role is to keep reminding Fulwiley that there’s always a scope for improvement. As far as she’s come along and the skills she has developed, she can always get better.

Kim Mulkey Praised the Commitment of LSU Fans

When the Tigers played the Florida Gators on Monday, there was a warning for cold weather around the area. People normally don’t step out in those conditions, let alone to watch a college basketball game in the regular season.

However, the commitment shown by the LSU fans to support their team even in those conditions really impressed Mulkey.

“Y’all should do an article because I just don’t think y’all understand in women’s basketball, students don’t normally show up at the games from what I’ve seen in 40 years,” Mulkey said. ”And when I drove up here an hour before the game, and I saw that line, and it was, y’all, it was to Mike the Tiger.”

Mulkey acknowledged that fans must have stood outside for a while in freezing weather conditions, and they deserve a lot of praise for their commitment.
