Mike Vrabel’s Super Bowl rings were stolen on Nov. 8, 2014, when he was working as the linebackers coach for the Houston Texans.
The break-in happened at Vrabel’s home in Bellaire, a suburb of Houston, around 11 a.m. on a Saturday. Vrabel and his family were away at their son’s basketball game when burglars kicked in the back door of the house.
The thieves stole Vrabel’s three Super Bowl rings from his time with the New England Patriots. He won the rings in Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII and XXXIX.
After the burglary, Vrabel posted a message on X warning local pawn shops.
“To all the Houston area pawn shops: 3 Super Bowl rings are headed your way,” he wrote. “Courtesy of the [mother f***ker] who smashed our back door in.”
Vrabel’s wife, Jennifer “Jen” Vrabel, also shared her anger on X.
“Thanks to the thugs, who busted out our back glass door while we were at our son’s basketball game this AM and took Mike Vrabel’s SB RINGS,” she wrote.
She also used the hashtag “class.”
During an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show in 2018, Vrabel said he did not want replacement rings from the Patriots. He explained that replacement rings would not feel the same as the originals he earned on the field during those championship seasons.
During his 14-year NFL career, Vrabel played for three teams.
His final season was in 2010 with the Kansas City Chiefs. He announced his retirement in July 2011 and later moved into coaching.
