Dianna Russini sat down with Mike Vrabel on Aug. 17 for an interview, where the former The Athletic senior NFL insider asked the New England Patriots head coach about his wife, Jennifer.
“Your wife is a superb athlete,” Russini said. (14:05)
Vrabel replied, “I would say, Jennifer used to be a superb athlete.”
Russini responded, “Maybe ‘used to be,’ but she has still got it in her the way you do.”
She then asked Vrabel, “Which sport do you think Jen could beat you at now?”
“Ping-pong,” Vrabel answered.
“Have you ever done it with her?” Russini followed up.
“I get too aggressive. I can’t, you know, I mean, after two volleys, I just try to kill it,” Vrabel said.
Mike Vrabel has been married to Jennifer “Jen” Vrabel since 1999. The couple met as student-athletes at Ohio State University, where Mike played football and Jennifer was a volleyball player. They have two adult sons, Tyler and Carter.

On April 7, Page Six published photos, showing Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini at the Ambiente Sedona resort in Arizona. The images, which were taken on March 28, showed the pair holding hands, hugging and lounging in a hot tub.
Seven days later, Russini resigned from The Athletic after an internal investigation looked into her conduct and the potential conflict of interest regarding the photos.
On April 21, Vrabel spoke up for the first time since the photos with Russini were released in a press conference, where he revealed that he will seek counselling to become the “best version of himself” for his family and the Patriots organization.
One day later, Vrabel confirmed in a statement via ESPN that he will miss Day 3 of the NFL Draft, which was scheduled for April 25, to focus on his family and begin his counselling sessions.
Interestingly, on April 23, Page Six released a second set of photos from March 11, 2020, showing the pair kissing and being intimate at a bar in the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City.
Dianna Russini is married to Kevin Goldschmidt, a corporate executive who serves as the Vice President of Total Rewards and HR Technology at Shake Shack.
The couple married on Sept. 26, 2020, in an intimate ceremony during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They have two sons, Michael Andrew (born 2021) and Joseph “Joey” (born 2022).
