Mike Vrabel’s coaching career is a huge blessing for his wife, Jennifer. Speaking to ESPN’s Turron Davenport on July 20, 2019, she opened up about their routine.
“Fridays are always our nights because we have a teenage son that doesn’t want to hang out with Mom and Dad, so he goes to high school football games,” she said. “It’s fun. He’s usually home earlier, and we grab dinner. When he coached in college, he really didn’t have a night like that, so we cherish that night.”
She added that Fridays were the same during Vrabel’s playing career in the NFL.
“Fridays were always the best. It became like a date night or family night,” Jennifer said.
However, things get busy during the season when he “gets home from the facility as late as 11 p.m.”
Davenport interviewed Jennifer while Vrabel was working as the Titans head coach. He was hired by the team on Jan. 20, 2018.
During his six-season tenure with the Titans (2018-2023), he led the team to three playoff appearances and was named the NFL Coach of the Year for the 2021 season.
During Vrabel’s playing career, he played with three different teams: Pittsburgh Steelers (1997-2000), New England Patriots (2001-2008), and Kansas City Chiefs (2009-2010).
During his time with the Steelers, Vrabel got married to Jennifer in 1999. The couple met while they were both student-athletes at Ohio State University. Vrabel played football and Jennifer was a member of the volleyball team. They have two sons, Tyler and Carter.

Mike Vrabel missed the birth of his younger son, Carter, in 2001 because he was at practice. During a January 2018 press conference, Vrabel opened up about the personal sacrifice.
“I am not proud to say this, but I am just going to tell you about my wife,” Vrabel said. “She gave birth to Carter, I missed it, I was at practice, she was in Ohio. He came early, he flipped, they had to take her. I showed up four hours late because I was playing football and she was having a baby. I love her to death.”
Carter followed in his father’s athletic footsteps, but chose baseball instead of football.
