Shedeur Sanders was named as a replacement for Drake Maye at the Pro Bowl this year. The New England Patriots’ quarterback is focused on the Super Bowl and couldn’t be available for the Pro Bowl, which opened the doors for Sanders.
The Cleveland Browns quarterback wasn’t originally on the roster for the Pro Bowl. But every year, we see players dropping out due to injuries or Super Bowl commitments, which allows others to step in.
Sanders’ inclusion was not received well by fans and analysts. Looking at his numbers, the outrage was justified. Still, he has a Pro Bowl appearance on his resume now. A good performance in the matchup might have helped his case, but he failed to do that, too.
In a video reposted by Dov Kleiman on X, Sanders can be seen throwing the ball only to be picked by Nahshon Wright. Kleiman stated that Sanders has looked “terrible” so far in the game, and the fans couldn’t agree more.
“He looked terrible in the NFL all season,” a fan wrote.
“This is without pressure,” a fan wrote.
“Sh*tdeur looks terrible every time his one the feild dei can’t hide horrible play,” a fan wrote.
“Pretty typical 😂 kid is f**king AWFUL at football,” a fan wrote.
“This is like when the coaches son gets pulled up to varsity and everyone knows they ain’t it,” a fan wrote.
Some fans didn’t take this seriously at all. The Pro Bowl no longer commands interest from fans. Most fans find out about the game while scrolling through the internet. Those fans couldn’t care less about Sanders’ performance.
“Bro it’s not a serious game lmao every qb has an int,” a fan wrote.
“Exhibition kids game you look bored af,” a fan wrote.
Sanders has a huge fan following, and those fans will continue to defend him on social media. But among the NFL pros, Sanders being in the Pro Bowl has been dubbed embarrassing.
Former NFL Star on Shedeur Sanders’ Pro Bowl Nod
Former NFL star Tyrann Mathieu recently joined the ongoing discussion on Sanders being in the Pro Bowl. He stated that the quarterback didn’t deserve the honor, and including him harms the reputation of the Pro Bowl.
“Shedeur Sanders has been named a Pro Bowl replacement player. In what world?” Mathieu SAID. “That’s what I don’t like, bro. We can not reward mediocracy. Like, we can not reward it. I’m sorry.”
Sanders had seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season. As per Mathieu, anyone with more interceptions than touchdowns doesn’t deserve to be in the Pro Bowl.
