It’s the age-old question: Can men and women be friends? Cam Newton thinks not. The former NFL quarterback explained his point of view over the weekend on the podcast “Funky Friday”, saying that if he knows an attractive woman, he won’t be around her pretending that he’s not attracted.
Here’s a phrase that sums up his take on the issue:
“I don’t even have woman friends, bro. Respectfully…”
“I don’t have no attractive woman that I’m cool with that I don’t have plans on st*bbing”
He basically boiled it down to the fact that if he were to have a platonic relationship with any woman, it would end up becoming intimate because he would look to make it so. When asked about women he didn’t find attractive, he said that if he stayed long enough around any woman, he would eventually find her attractive.
Let’s just say that CBS Sports’ Ashley Nicole Moss didn’t know how to take this:
“Wellllll damn … this is awkward lol,” replied Moss to the X post showing Cam Newton’s statement
In another uncomfortable comment, she asked:
“so we’re not friends either???,” asked Moss
Cam Newton Puts His Support Behind Sam Darnold for Super Bowl LX
Cam Newton wasn’t the biggest fan of Sam Darnold throughout the regular season, with him periodically diminishing the Seattle Seahawks quarterback. But less than a week from Super Bowl LX, even he has got to admit that he’s playing the best football of his career:
“(Darnold) is playing possessed. That boy drank that Space Jam juice…The greatest revenge is success, (and) a lot of people are eating crow…I’m one of those people that’s eating that crow…(Darnold) showed up and showed out.”
Now it looks like he’s supporting the Seahawks to win Super Bowl LX this Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. He isn’t the only one, as the bookies have Darnold and the Seahawks as 4.5-point favorites over the New England Patriots.
Darnold has thrown for 4048 yards (5th in the NFL), with 25 touchdown passes (Tied ninth in the NFL), and 14 interceptions. His only stat line that’s a tad low is his 55.7 QBR. He’s playing like a completely different individual from the quarterback who struggled in his first three seasons with the New York Jets.
