Darryn Peterson has been facing a lot of heat this season. The number of people talking about his potential was extremely high at the start of the season. Now, most of what people are talking about is his injuries, unavailability, and his mentality. There have been multiple issues, and even Kansas Jayhawks coach Bill Self has shared his opinion in a ton of different ways.
Self, for the most part, has defended Peterson to the best of his ability. However, things have gotten worse. Due to cramping, Peterson recently subbed himself out during a game. It was surprising for many, and fans and experts started doubting Peterson’s dedication to the game. Self shared how it was disappointing for him and that he wasn’t expecting anything like it to happen.
This has also decreased his NBA draft stock, according to many insiders. NBA executives are reportedly losing interest, and Darryn Peterson might not end up as the first draft pick, as things stand right now. During Kansas’ most recent game against Houston, something similar happened when Peterson seemed to attempt to sub himself out again.
“Darryn Peterson just tried to sub himself out of the game again after a 3, and Bill Self told him to stay in,” the post was captioned as Self was animated on the sidelines.
Darryn Peterson scored a three-pointer in the second half as Kansas led 52-39. This was the first of the five three-pointers Peterson had attempted. He finished with 14 points and 2-7 three-pointers.
Fans React to Darryn Peterson Once Again Attempting to Sub Himself Out
Fans online were fuming once again and questioned Darryn Peterson’s attitude. However, some fans also questioned whether that was what really happened.
“Does he just hate playing defense?” one fan wondered.
“Man truly hates basketball,” another fan said.
“Where did he try to sub out?” one fan asked.
“He’s telling him to get the f*ck back on defense,” one fan stated.
“Bill Self really said ‘you’re not going anywhere,'” another claimed.
“The young man may have a bigger psychological problem that no one is talking about. Hopefully that university is keeping a close eye on him and his mental state,” another shared.
