Milan Momcilovic is making a huge impact on the Kentucky squad in a short period of time, and it is there for all to see. After a reported $6 million move from Iowa State, the big man has grown into his role at Kentucky, and the latest from the Kentucky camp suggests he might already be dominating.
Per Kentucky insider Tristan Pharis, Momcilovic led the way in the “winner’s board” rankings at summer practice, a metric that might prove key as Kentucky plans for the new season.
Momcilovic recorded 28 wins, measured daily in practice through drills and scrimmages, showcasing his strength and all-around ability alongside his obvious shooting prowess.
The “protect the ball” rankings were also visible on the board adjacent to the winner’s category, where Milan Momcilovic was tied for fifth spot. On the winner’s board, Zoom Diallo was a close second to Momcilovic, with 27 wins to his name. The board also showed that this was as of July 13, suggesting these numbers may be updated daily as summer practice continues.
Momcilovic Names “Best Player” at Kentucky Practice
Milan Momcilovic recently named the “best player” for him so far at Kentucky practice since he joined the team himself.
“I think Trent (Noah), because I didn’t watch a whole lot of Kentucky last year, watched a little bit, so I saw him play a little bit here and there, but you know, coming into summer, I think he’s been the best player,” Momcilovic told reporters.
“Coach showed a slide of like points per possession, and he’s No. 1 by a long shot, so I think he kind of just honestly like looking at him and learning from him a little bit, because he’s been here three years, you know, he’s a veteran in this program, he knows what to do. I think just watching that and seeing that, because he’s a shooter too, is cool.”
Momcilovic hopes he can kick off the new season on a high note.
