Mark Pope Suffers Strict Action from SEC After ‘MFers’ Comment About Officiating vs Auburn

Mark Pope and Kentucky have been in and out of form for the entirety of this season. Mark Pope has been under the cosh for an underwhelming season so far for the Wildcats. They have a 17-10 overall record. But when it has mattered the most, Kentucky have faltered. Their SEC play record is disappointingly 8-6. There have been many concerns for this season.

One of the biggest concerns, however, is something out of Mark Pope’s control. Kentucky has suffered from multiple injuries. Several players, such as Denzel Aberdeen, Trent Noah, Mo Dioubate, Jaland Lowe, Jayden Quaintance, and Kam Williams, have picked up injuries. Lowe, Quaintance, and Williams are still out with different injuries. Braydon Hawthorne has just joined the injury list, and bad news just keeps piling on for Mark Pope.

Kentucky is on 3 game losing streak right now. With four games left, and a 3-game losing streak, Kentucky have been dropped from a number 6 to a number 8 seed. In the most recent loss vs Auburn, Kentucky were well within winning the game; however, the game slipped from their hands. Kentucky held the lead of 4 points with 39-35, but ended up losing 75-74 at the very last minute. Mark Pope was absolutely furious during and after the game. He blamed the officiating and also had some profanity-filled comments for the refs. This has led to some serious action from the SEC.

“The SEC has fined Kentucky’s Mark Pope $25,000 for post-game conduct and comments related to officiating following Saturday’s game at Auburn, per release,” analyst Jon Rothstein reported.

Pope was reportedly heard saying, “Mitch, if those MFers try to fine me, they can’t. I didn’t say a word about how they cheated us.”
