The UConn Huskies have been showing why they are the No. 1-ranked team in college women’s basketball with that one-sided beatdown of Xavier, and forward Sarah Strong is one of the reasons why. She dropped 25 points during that game and helped lead Geno Auriemma’s squad to an easy 97-39 victory, further strengthening their case for a back-to-back championship.
As she helped the Huskies dominate, her mom, Allison Feaster, celebrated her 25-point performance on her Instagram Stories, sharing a video posted by the UConn WBB Instagram page.
“The great state of Wisconsin: Flamethrower capital of the world,” she wrote as her daughter caught fire.

Here is the clip she shared:
Sarah Strong scored 19 of her 25 points in the first half, but she was not the star of the game. Teammate Allie Ziebell was the player of the game as she scored a career-high 34 points against Xavier. However, what makes her performance historic is that she tied UConn’s record of most three-pointers scored during a game at 10.
Strong, a native of North Carolina, is already a sophomore and is widely seen as Geno Auriemma’s next big star at UConn. She already has one national championship under her belt as the Huskies continue to make a strong case for a second one in a row.
She was the No. 1 recruit from the Class of 2024 and is a McDonald’s, Naismith, SLAM and Jordan Brand All-American in addition to having represented the United States across multiple FIBA competitions.
AP Named Sarah Strong as Their Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
With her performance with the No. 1 UConn Huskies over the last few weeks, many consider Sarah Strong as one of the best sophomore players in college women’s basketball. Apparently, the Associated Press agrees, as they named her their Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Week 12.
They awarded her the honor after last week’s performance, which saw the Huskies go 3-0. She averaged 20 points and 8.3 rebounds. 4.3 assists and 3.3 steals per game, and she performed well against good teams like Notre Dame, where she scored 18, and Georgetown, where she scored 25.
Iowa center Ava Heiden was named as the runner-up, with NC State’s Zoe Brooks, Iowa State’s Jada Williams and Georgia’s Dani Carnegie being honorable mentions.
