MiLaysia Fulwiley and JaMeesia Ford first met during the fall of 2023 at a joint gathering for South Carolina’s women’s basketball and track and field teams. Fulwiley noticed Ford’s outfit and commented (via The State in October 2024):

“I liked her outfit, because she had this ‘schoolgirl’ look. She had on a skirt, and she looked like she was going to class. And I had on my sweats.”

They started spending more time together. Their first date was at Crafty Crab, and they later became regulars at Old Chicago Pizza.

The couple confirmed their relationship in March 2024 through a TikTok video. Since then, they have been regulars on each other’s Instagram posts.

Why MiLaysia Fulwiley and JaMeesia Ford Decided To Go Public?

MiLaysia Fulwiley and JaMeesia Ford’s relationship stands out because of how rare dual-sport, same-sex couples are. To inspire other same-sex couples across different sports, the two decided to go public in March 2024 through their TikTok video.

“I’ve never really seen a couple that thrives like us,” Fulwiley told The State. “That’s what really made us want to go public.”

Because of their schedules, Fulwiley and Ford don’t get a lot of time together, but when they do, they make the most of it.

“It’s easy for us to understand because we’re both athletes,” Ford said. “… When we have free time, we make the best of it. Because we don’t have a lot of time with each other. So we just admire those moments.”

Both respect each other’s professions, as their words reflect the same.

“Just to see her go out there and actually win college races,” Fulwiley said, “that showed me she’s really talented. And I just want to be a part of her journey.”

“It’s a good feeling just watching your significant other accomplish their goals,” Ford said.

Both have also seen success at South Carolina. Fulwiley helped the Gamecocks win the 2024 NCAA women’s basketball championship. Meanwhile, Ford won NCAA indoor titles, setting the world under-20 record in the 300 meters. Both of them together earned co-Female Freshman of the Year honors at South Carolina’s 2024 Gamecock Gala.
