A certain athlete was recently seen in one of the life events in USC Trojans superstar JuJu Watkins’ basketball career, as onlookers wonder as to why he was there in the first place. On Saturday, Jan. 10, the Sierra Canyon Trail Blazers decided to retire Watkins’ No. 12 high school jersey as she became the first ever player from the high school program to have their jersey retired by the school.
With this, @SCNext on X/Twitter uploaded a recap video that shows the highlights from the milestone event as Watkins accepted the distinction in front of a hyped-up Los Angeles, California home crowd. In the 20-second clip, however, Washington Commanders starting quarterback Jayden Daniels was seen to have attended the event, as he has been seen previously in several events Watkins is linked to.
Fans and spectators everywhere then went wild on the fact that Daniels was captured to be attending Watkins’ high school jersey retirement as it seemingly came out of nowhere.
“Wait, why is Jayden Daniels there,” one fan questioned.
“Her & Jayden Daniels stay being in the same places at the same time lol,” another user pointed out.
“Why Jayden there?? His momma told him stay away from her🤨🤷🏾♂️,” another fan shared with a couple of emojis.
“I know Jayden Daniels mom was there 😂,” a user wrote with a laughing emoji.
Other users all over X/Twitter then give out their speculations as to why Daniels is seen to be in such a milestone event for Watkins in her budding basketball career.
“He been around for some years now…Some say they are dating, some say they are cousins…No one knows the real answer lol,” one fan said.
“They are dating,” another user claimed.
“So, they dating or what? LMAO or they just gonna be weird like Bam [Adebayo] and Aja [Wilson] cuz they athletes LMAO,” a user asserted.
Daniels is currently in his second year in the league with coach Dan Quinn’s 2025-26 Commanders in the current NFL season. He spent five years in collegiate football, the first three of which he played with the Arizona State Sun Devils and the last two with the LSU Tigers. For Watkins, she is considered one of the best scorers in the current women’s basketball landscape with coach Lindsay Gottlieb’s Trojans.
Both Jayden Daniels and JuJu Watkins Are In The Midst Of Recovering From Their Respective Injuries
Both Jayden Daniels and JuJu Watkins are both recovering from their respective major injuries. Daniels is currently expected to return soon after he has spent over a month recovering from a dislocated elbow injury that he suffered back in early November. In Watkins’ case, she is still going through the recovery process of the viral torn ACL injury she suffered back in the 2025 national tournament.
