MiLaysia Fulwiley Makes Urgent Plea to Teammates as LSU’s NCAA Tournament Hinges on Key Factor

LSU Tigers guard MiLaysia Fulwiley is no stranger to the national stage despite just being in the middle of her college career, and she hopes to instill that familiarity in her teammates. On Wednesday, March 18, Fulwiley held an online media availability, spearheaded by sportscaster Jacques Doucet, wherein she commented on her and her team’s state heading into the Big Dance.

Fulwiley was asked by the sportscaster how the team was feeling heading into the national postseason and whether they were ready to make a deep run. The junior said her team is poised for a deep run in the playoffs, but urged the Tigers to focus on executing plays well to make that happen.

“Yes, sir. I believe that we’re ready to make a run and, uh, I think we’ve worked very hard leading up to this moment. So, you know, we just kind of got to trust our work. And just this week, we’ve been focusing on like, we got to execute. I feel like we have a lot of plays that we don’t really execute quite as much or as much as we should be. So, I think everybody’s in the right mindset,” Fulwiley said (0:07).

“And I think that’s what’s gonna take us to the next level, which is all of us being on the same page and understanding our role and just going out there handling business,” she continued.

Fulwiley is in her third year of collegiate hoops, first under the tutelage of coach Kim Mulkey and the Louisiana-based program. The slasher spent her first two seasons of college basketball with coach Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks, who are the direct rivals of her newfound team. At South Carolina, Fulwiley was a part of the 2024 national title-winning squad.

To open their national tournament run this year, MiLaysia Fulwiley and the rest of coach Kim Mulkey‘s LSU Tigers will face coach Special Jennings’ Jacksonville Dolphins in the first round of Regional 2 in Sacramento.

The match will be played on the former’s home floor, the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In the current campaign, the Tigers have produced an overall record of 27-5 (12-4 SEC).
