Iowa State Cyclones guard Jada Williams will have plenty of options for college hoops programs to transfer to for her senior year, as she enters the offseason with intentions to play somewhere else. On Wednesday, March 25, Williams shocked fans by entering her name into the transfer portal and leaving coach Bill Fennelly’s program after just one year.
The news came from Williams herself, as she posted a heartfelt message for Iowa State on Instagram. The lone year that the Kansas City, Missouri, native spent with the Cyclones was her junior year, as she now looks for a new home for her fourth and possibly final year of college basketball. Williams and the rest of coach Fennelly’s team are coming off their first-round exit from the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
Let’s look at the top landing spots for Williams for her senior campaign.
Top 5 Landing Spots for Jada Williams
#5 LSU Tigers
The LSU Tigers have been one of the powerhouse programs in the past decade. Coached by Kim Mulkey, the Tigers have constantly been in the brightest lights of both the SEC tournament and the national tournament. But after their 2023 national title run, the Tigers have come short against other big-name teams, such as the South Carolina Gamecocks. Jada Williams can transfer there and add to LSU’s firepower.
#4 UConn Huskies
As stacked as they can be, Jada Williams can totally insert herself into the current defending national champions’ lineup next season, with UConn Huskies senior Azzi Fudd graduating. If she does, Williams can be part of the most storied program in all of women’s college hoops for her fourth year and set herself up for a potential national championship run.
#3 North Carolina Tar Heels
The North Carolina Tar Heels have uncorked an awe-inspiring run in the 2025-26 campaign to make it all the way to the Sweet 16. Coach Courtney Banghart’s Tar Heels team is led by forward Nyla Harris, who still has one year of eligibility left. Whether or not UNC wins March Madness this year or if Harris opts for her fifth year, Williams can be the go-to guard for North Carolina in the 2026-27 campaign.
#2 Oregon Ducks
For the Oregon Ducks program that is used to success, the past couple of years, especially after now-New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu’s departure, have not gone as planned. Coached by Kelly Graves, the Ducks have not found much success in the national tournament as of late, and Williams can help them. Williams will likely be given the keys to initiate the Ducks’ game plan and be their bona fide star.
#1 TCU Horned Frogs
It seems that in the past couple of years, the TCU Horned Frogs, coached by Mark Campbell, have served as a gateway for transfer guards to revitalize their game ahead of the WNBA Draft. This year, TCU is being led by fifth-year star Olivia Miles, who has put up an impressive campaign ahead of the 2026 draft. The same could be said a year ago about now-Chicago Sky guard Hailey Van Lith, who spent her final season with the Horned Frogs. Williams can follow suit, as she will also likely vie for the WNBA Draft next year.
