It is always a spectacle when South Carolina and LSU meet. South Carolina had won their last 17 games against the Tigers. This season, the dominance extended to 18 games.
South Carolina emerged victorious over LSU in a close game on Saturday. The Gamecocks defeated LSU, 79-72. The first quarter went to LSU, but for the rest of the game, they were clearly the second-best. LSU was lacklustre. Flau’jae Johnson played like a lone warrior. The only help she had was from Mikaylah Williams. She was the only other player who reached double digits for LSU.
On the other hand, four of South Carolina’s starting five finished with double digits in points. Joyce Edwards got 10 points, and Madina Okot finished with 17 rebounds and 12 points. Raven Johnson got 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. However, the best player on the court was Tessa Johnson, and Kim Mulkey was fully aware of that. She knew if LSU did not stop the Gamecocks guard, the game would slip away, and that’s what happened. This desperation to stop Tessa on one of her best days was pretty evident, as Mulkey shouted at her players during a timeout.
Kim Mulkey was seen screaming at the top of her lungs. She shouted at her players and asked in utter frustration who could guard Tessa Johnson. Grace Knox raised her hand, taking responsibility and showing Mulkey that she is ready for any challenge.
