TCU Horned Frogs guard Olivia Miles stole the show in her team’s most recent regular-season game, even though she had to leave early. On Thursday, Jan. 29, Miles and the rest of coach Mark Campbell‘s Horned Frogs defeated coach Brandon Schneider’s Kansas Jayhawks 79-77 on the former’s home floor, the Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
Miles, who celebrated her 23rd birthday on the game day, put up an impressive performance, much to the delight of the home crowd. She finished with a team-high 20 points on an efficient 7-of-12 clip, to go along with four rebounds, six assists, and two steals in 32 minutes. However, her efforts were put to a halt as Miles fouled out in the dying minutes of what was a gut-wrenching affair between the two squads.
Fans online hailed Miles for her outstanding performance despite her five fouls.
“That’s an SGA type play from Olivia Miles. Splitting the double and then fadeaway, damn. I turned on this basketball game in my free time at the right time,” one fan shared.
“Not The Best Game But Olivia Miles Just Gave The Jayhawks The Dagger & The Famous Trae Young Ice Cold Taunt. #KUvsTCU,” another fan said.
“Olivia Miles is bonkers, my God,” another user claimed.
“Olivia Miles is so f*cking good,” a user asserted.
Other X users shared their thoughts on the game as a whole, deeming that Miles had a lot to do with the outcome of the highly intense affair.
“What a great game between Kansas and #12 TCU! The freshman Jaliya Davis had a big game with 29 points and S’mya Nichols chipped in with 24 for the Jayhawks! For TCU, it was of course Olivia Miles with 20 points! TCU gets the win 79-77 #NCAAWBB,” one fan wrote.
“Aye, these refs really tried to give Kansas the Win against TCU…Ugggh that was hard to watch but I’m glad TCU got the Dub with 3 people fouling out of the game including Olivia Miles,” another fan posted.
“Well played, Olivia Miles. It’s over. #RockChalk,” a fan pointed out.
Miles is currently in her fifth and final year of collegiate hoops, and is serving a one-and-done season with the Horned Frogs. The Phillipsburg, New Jersey, native opted to transfer to the program after spending her previous four years of her college tenure with coach Niele Ivey’s Notre Dame Fighting Irish. TCU currently has an overall record of 20-2 (8-1 Big 12).
TCU Horned Frogs Outlast Kansas Jayhawks By Two Points
As previously mentioned, it was a nip-and-tuck affair between the TCU Horned Frogs and the Kansas Jayhawks. Despite three TCU players fouling out in the final minutes of the matchup, the Horned Frogs managed to come out on top against Kansas by two points, 79-77.
Miles and company now look to carry this momentum into their next game against coach Krista Gerlich’s Texas Tech Lady Raiders on Sunday, Feb. 1, in away territory.
