The 2026 WNBA Draft is ready to take place in New York City on April 13 and stars like Azzi Fudd, Flau’jae Johnson, Raven Johnson, and Lauren Betts are eager to hear their names get called on the big stage.
Andraya Carter was a massive supporter of the UConn Huskies in the 2025-26 season and picked them to win it all this year, which unfortunately didn’t happen. But that didn’t stop the ESPN analyst from extending her support to Azzi Fudd ahead of the WNBA Draft.
When asked whether Fudd could take the No. 1 overall spot on Monday and reunite with her girlfriend, Paige Bueckers, Carter told USA TODAY Sports:
“Yeah, of course. Why not?
“She’s a specialist when it comes to being a shooter — the ability to hit shots, the ability to space the floor,” Carter added. “There’s so many things that when you have a floor spacer, just that skill set alone is an amazing opportunity to have success at the WNBA level. Even on nights if she’s not hitting (3-pointers), she can attack long close outs, which puts the defense in scramble mode. When the defense is in scramble mode, somebody’s going to be open.”
Carmelo Anthony Makes Thoughts Clear on Where He Wants Azzi Fudd to Go in the Draft
Carmelo Anthony recently spoke about how Azzi Fudd would be a great fit for the Dallas Wings if they take the UConn star in the 2026 WNBA Draft as the No. 1 overall pick and reunite her with her ex teammate and girlfriend, Paige Bueckers.
During a recent appearance on “7 pm in Brooklyn” podcast, Anthony said that he would pair Fudd with Bueckers because their chemistry is proven from the four years they spent in college together, securing one national championship together on April 6, 2025.
“I would do that because it has been proven… it’s been proven over four years,” he said. “They know how to play together, they know how to win. They know each other, so if you could get continuity in the backcourt like that, if it was me, I know my ups and downs, I know me as a person outside of basketball, and now the franchise player is bringing in another potential franchise player,” Anthony said.
In the 2025-26 season, Fudd averaged 17.3 points, 3.1 assists, 2.6 in rebounds and 48.1 in FG%.
