Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson has declared for the 2026 NFL draft, despite being eligible to play at least one more year of college football. He led Alabama to the College Football Playoff, and many teams are interested in him, though he is not yet a senior and still has plenty of room to grow in college.
However, the Crimson Tide QB1 has already made his decision, saying:
“It wasn’t all perfect, and it didn’t have to be, but every moment had meaning, and I gave Alabama my all,” he said. “And I got so much more in return. Coach [Nick] Saban was right — it was all worth it.”
Despite Simpson already declaring for the NFL draft, he can still change his mind. He could even enter the transfer portal if he wants, and he has received massive offers from several college teams to drop the NFL for at least one more year.
3 College Football Teams Asking Ty Simpson To Enter the Transfer Portal Instead of the NFL
Miami Hurricanes
The Canes will be losing their star quarterback Carson Beck after the NCAA national championship game. Beck is already a senior and is expected to announce for the NFL draft after the national title game, win or lose. This means there will be a massive opening at the starting quarterback position, and they want Ty Simpson to fill it. They are reportedly offering him $6.5 million to transfer and not go to the NFL.
Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss already has one of the most coveted quarterbacks in the transfer portal, and that is Auburn’s Deuce Knight, who is expected to replace starter Trinidad Chambliss after the NCAA denied his request to have one more year of eligibility. However, they also have a standing offer to Ty Simpson worth $4 million in NIL to go to Oxford instead.
Tennessee Volunteers
Like the other two teams, their QB1, Joey Aguilar, is leaving. While they have also been dipping into the transfer portal, it seems that their real prize is Ty Simpson, and they have also reportedly offered him $4 million in NIL.
