After going 4-8 in the 2025 college football season, the South Carolina Gamecocks will once again take the field under the stewardship of head coach Shane Beamer later this September.
ESPN host and CFB analyst Paul Finebaum, in an interview with Film Guy Networks’ Brooks Austin on Thursday, was asked to predict the first Southeastern Conference (SEC) coach to get fired this year.
While Finebaum did take a merry few seconds to answer, his response could very well make a lot of South Carolina fans upset.
“Do I really have to say Shane Beamer?”, Paul Finebaum stated (1:35).
While Finebaum did not exactly state the reason for this brutal verdict about Shane Beamer’s future, the Gamecocks’ underwhelming overall performance last season combined with an abysmal SEC record of just one victory in eight games could very well be one of the primary factors behind this bold statement.
Having been part of the South Carolina coaching setup in a variety of roles from 2007 to 2010, Beamer was officially appointed as Gamecocks’ head coach back in 2020.
Shane Beamer Catches Strays As Finebaum Reveals Most Annoying CFB Fanbase
When Brooks Austin asked Paul Finebaum about the most annoying CFB fanbase, the TV personality did not hold back as he questioned the relevancy of the Clemson fans.
He further took aim at the Tigers’ head coach, Dabo Swinney, while also throwing shade on South Carolina’s head coach, Shane Beamer.
“Clemson fans are just absurd. Because they think they are relevant”, Finebaum said (0:11).
“I get asked couple of times a year, what do you think of Dabo Swinney? And my answer’s the same and they all start tweeting ‘Oh man, Dabo Swinney living rent free in Paul Finebaum’s’. Now Dabo Swinney is not living rent free in any…i mean Shane Beamer is beating this guy”, he further elaborated (0:18).
As Finebaum continued naming more annoying fanbases, he said Michigan fans were not worth his time, claiming they believe college football revolves around them, before calling Alabama fans a challenge to deal with.
