Amid the ongoing transfer portal chaos, the Oklahoma Wrestling program has welcomed and bid adieu to a few elite wrestlers, including Isaiah Powe, Jersey Robb, and Rin Sakamoto. The Japanese wrestler has entered the transfer portal following his redshirt freshman year.
The Oklahoma State 133 lbs wrestler is a Japanese national champion, having won the Emperor’s Cup in 2024, which marked his first senior national title. During his run at the Jiyugaoka Gakuen High School, he was a two-time Inter-High champion. He was also a national team member at the Senior World Championships. Sakamoto was a part of the U20 World Team in 2023.
He represented the country at the Junior World Championships and reached the quarterfinal round. For Oklahoma State Wrestling, he made one appearance in the dual lineup in the 133lbs category. He entered the portal on Saturday, April 11.
While Sakamoto entered the transfer portal, Isaiah Powe was transferred from the University of Tennessee to the University of Oklahoma (Sooners). Powe is a SoCon Champion and was also honored with SoCon Freshman of the Year after posting a 25-4 record.
He became the Greco-Roman champion in the 138 category at the 2023 Junior National Duals. Jersey Robb of Oklahoma State wrestling also entered the transfer portal and committed to OU (Sooners). He compiled a 21-5 record in the 197lbs during his two years at OSU.
