“Inevitable,” “He was an embarrassment” – Fans React to AJ Ferrari’s Nebraska Exit After Controversial NCAA Finish.

AJ Ferrari is leaving the Nebraska wrestling team after one season, and fans online have slammed him for the decision. He officially joined the program on June 7, 2025, after transferring from Cal State Bakersfield.

Ferrari wrapped up his 2025-26 season after the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships, where he competed in the heavyweight, 285-pound weight class. He advanced to the semifinal round, where he met Iowa State’s Yonger Bastida, who claimed a win by major decision (15-7) to progress to the finals.

After this loss, the Nebraska wrestler was scheduled to fight for fifth place against Iowa’s Ben Kueter; however, he had to withdraw because of a knee injury he had suffered earlier. Days after this heartbreak, he has parted ways with Nebraska after one year of association.

The news of him stepping out of the program did not sit right with the fans, as they slammed him on social media. One of the users on X wrote:

“This one felt inevitable. Will AJ return to college wrestling? If he does, what school(s) will take him?”

    Another fan commented:

“Good riddance!! He was an embarrassment.”

One of the followers, taking a dig at Ferrari’s persona, wrote:

“Is anyone surprised? How many bridges have to be burned and ridiculous antics shown before people are willing to see through the bullsh*t persona? I guess his schedule is freed up for knee surgery 5-7?”

Along similar lines, another user chimed in:

“Duh, Circuses never stay in the same place.”

AJ Ferrari’s 2026 NCAA campaign ended on a controversial note after he accused Bastida of consuming performance-enhancing drugs.

AJ Ferrari issued an apology after accusing Yonger Bastida of using HGH

After losing to Yonger Bastida in the semifinal round at the NCAA Wrestling Championships, AJ Ferrari made a bold statement in the post-match interview, accusing him of using Human Growth Hormone (HGH). Shortly after this, the Iowa wrestler’s strength coach demanded an apology from Ferrari.

Amid the controversy, Ferrari posted a video on X, issuing an apology for his statement and clarifying what he meant. Stating that he ‘respects’ Yonger a lot, he said:

“Wrestling is a very, very emotional sport. After my semi-finals match, you know, I was speaking in the heat of the moment. I was not at all saying that, you know, Yonger Bastida is on HGH, if that was taken the wrong way. I feel very badly about that as I respect Yonger a lot,” said AJ Ferarri.

He also penned a note in the caption that read:

“I just got off the phone with Younger, and we’re both excited to embrace the future and the opportunities ahead of us. Respect, integrity, and faith are important to both of us. We remain great friends and have deep respect for each other, both on and off the wrestling mat.”

AJ Ferrari received a fierce reply from Bastida, who showed respect for the apology but said it won’t change anything and challenged the former Nebraska wrestler to lock horns at RAF Wrestling.
