“Tone Down the Antics” — Fans Slam Noah Lyles’ Warning to Trayvon Bromell After Paris Diamond League Defeat

Noah Lyles warned Trayvon Bromell after Bromell won the 100-meter race at the Paris Diamond League. Bromell clocked 9.91 seconds, just 0.01 seconds ahead of Lyles. His victory reignited the rivalry between the two after an incident during the race.

Television cameras showed Bromell taking a small glance toward Lyles just at the finish line. Lyles didn’t take this lightly and warned his rival in his post-race reaction on X:

“Carefully there Treyvon. The last person who did this to me didn’t even make the podium next time we met.”

Lyles’ warning ignited a flurry of reactions from fans.

“Noah I thought you’d congratulate Trayvon instead of issuing threats,” one fan wrote.

“Not you talking about sportsmanship,” another added.

“Dawg yall couldn’t pay me to ever hate Noah,” one fan reacted.

“You’re not even at Usain Bolt level speed bro! Tone down the antics,” another fan added.

“Not the taunt king, crying about a walk down!” one fan reacted.

“Let me fix this for you, “Great race today Treyvon, you were on fire!'” one fan wrote.

Noah Lyles Not Ready to Accept Any Rivalry With Trayvon Bromell

So far, the two American sprinters have met four times in the 100-meter race. The series is tied 2-2 after Trayvon Bromell’s latest win.

After the Paris Diamond League Race, Noah Lyles was asked about the rivalry between them. The Paris Olympics champion discarded the thought, saying (via SVT):

“What rivalry? I’m the one who has all the medals… Even a blind squirrel can find a nut every now and then.”

Earlier on Saturday, Lyles said he was on the blue track of the Charléty stadium to especially defeat Bromell.

The difference is notable between the two. Bromell starts off the blocks well for the first 30-40 meters. Meanwhile, Lyles starts slowly but has the strongest top-end speed in the field.

Bromell was the first junior to legally break the 10s barrier. However, repeated Achilles injuries interrupted what could have been a dominant career. On the other hand, Lyles has won multiple world titles, most notably the 2024 Paris Olympics gold.

Lyles will next participate in the US national championship at the end of July. Then, he will prepare for the new World Athletics competition, the Ultimate Championships, in September in Budapest.
