Two Olympians clashed for good at a recent Team USA event, hosted by Xfinity. Olympic skier Mikaela Shiffrin met ice dancer Ilia Malinin, and the duo turned the chance encounter into a cheerful bond.
The Milano-Cortina post-season is going strong with unparalleled fan appreciation moments and stat-studded support for Team USA. Both Shiffrin and Malinin have just come from a grueling few weeks of Olympic and post-Olympic campaigns, with each proving their dominance on their stage.
The recent Team USA event hosted by Xfinity took place in Philadelphia, and both Shiffrin and Malinin were among the many attendees who lit up the occasion. Making it more memorable, Shiffrin took to her social media, documenting their first meet as a spark of a lasting connection.
“When you finally meet each other at a partner event and walk away besties 👯🫶,” wrote Shiffrin.
In the photo, the two can be seen engaging in a classic selfie and found a rare pocket of silence on a lounge sofa where the two Olympic titans traded their kinetic energy for a quiet downtime moment.
Fans also reacted to the wholesome moments, with many throwing across playful speculations of their future together.
Mikaela Shiffrin Talks about Having Limited Time for Reflection
Despite being away from the biting alpine winds, Shiffrin has been active with her fundraising and other business endeavors.
During a recent interview, Shiffrin spoke about how, despite having a whirlwind of a season, she had little to no time for reflecting on the key moments and how things only hit her when the dust settles, which in her world is after a few years.
“I haven’t had a lot of time to reflect, and I’m very much a compartmentalizer, and during the season I didn’t do too much of processing and reflecting, so usually it takes me a couple of years,” she said (1:17).
She also highlighted that she had a total of only 48 hours of family time in the past nine months, which left little room for a retrospective look-back.
