Alysa Liu recently made her feelings known about starring in the official music video for Laufey’s song, “Madwoman.” The song premiered on April 13 and, along with Liu, it features multiple other stars, including “Heated Rivalry” actor Hudson Williams.
Liu recently rose to fame after her iconic performances at the 2026 Winter Olympics. She produced dominant performances in the women’s figure skating event and in the team event. In the latter, she played a crucial role in helping her team secure a gold medal by scoring 74.90 points. Following this, she competed in the individual women’s figure skating event, where she earned an overall 226.79 points, becoming the first American in 24 years to win an Olympic gold medal in the women’s figure skating event.
Days after the stellar achievements, she has again turned heads with her latest appearance in Laufey’s video. The music video features a star-studded cast and was released as part of the promotion for Laufey’s project, “A Matter of Time: The Final Hour.” Along with the Olympic champion, fans can also see “The Summer I Turned Pretty’s” star, Lola Tung.
Laufey shared a glimpse of the music video on her Instagram, announcing the release of the music video. The post’s caption read:
“MADWOMAN MUSIC VIDEO OUT NOW ON MY YOUTUBE 💥 Directed by @warrenjfu

Alysa Liu’s best friend revealed the story behind the American’s return to ice after early retirement
Alysa Liu made her Olympic debut in 2022, where she fell short of earning any podium finishes, and just after this campaign, she announced her retirement at the young age of 16. After being on a break for almost three years, she returned to ice in October 2024 to gear up for the 2026 Milan Cortina Games.
Liu’s best friend, Tseh Newton, opened up about what helped her get back on ice in an interview with CBS Mornings. Sharing how a skiing trip turned out to be the reason behind her comeback decision, Newton said:
“I remember it was like our first time skiing, and we were driving, and she was like, ‘I’m gonna do Black Diamond today.’ And like some people said that as a joke, she was dead serious. I was like, we need to take it slow. We’re not going on a black diamond, we’re double black diamond.”
She added:
“Anywhere in this morning, but at the same time, it’s like I knew that she would pick it up, and she did. By the end of the day, she probably could have done that diamonds. I mean, she’s just so athletically gifted in a lot of ways, doing a sport like that again, that’s so fun.”
She concluded:
“I wasn’t surprised that it reminded her of what she found in skating that she liked. On the ride home from that trip, she just kind of talked it through with us. And she still wasn’t sure at the start, and then she was like, I’ll just try. Going to the rink with you in the morning, and if I can land all my jobs, I’ll come back, and I was like, OK, let’s do it. Yeah, she kind of unsurprisingly was able to pick them all up within the morning.”
Alysa Liu recently shared a positive update on her participation in the 2030 French Alps Winter Olympics.
