The Nebraska Huskers have just been hit with a volley of their own, as three of their players have made it to the U21 Nationals. Manaia Ogbechie, Keoni Williams, and Campbell Flynn are heading to the U21 USA national team.
USA Volleyball has bagged 27 elite athletes for the 2026 U.S. Women’s U21 National Team, which will battle for the Pan-American NORCECA Cup this coming summer. As the 27 train, only 14 would be selected to represent the country on the final U21 roster. The remaining 7 will fight to form a squad for the U23 Pan American Cup.
As the lineup was unveiled, the Huskers found three of their elite athletes shining at the top of the list, and fellow Husker Andi Jackson couldn’t contain her excitement. She didn’t bother with restraint and went straight for the gut, writing, “YESSSSS.” Jackson herself stood out for the U21 squad of 2024, winning gold.
Campbell Flynn from Michigan is a No. 1 setter in her class and No. 4 overall recruit. Manaia Ogbechie, the middle blocker, had previously earned the MVP status during her stint with the U19 squad of 2024. The trio locks in with the Texan middle blocker, Keoni Williams, who earned the Blocker of the Year honor for three straight years.
The Huskers have been enjoying a momentous season premiere, with the women’s volleyball team garnering a net victory against Iowa in their premier spring match of the season.
Nebraska Huskers Coach Dani Busboom Kelly Talks About Keoni and Manaia’s Spring Performance
The Huskers had recently beaten Iowa in their seasonal debut, and Coach Kelly was in all praise for the team. During the post-match conference, Busboom spoke about how much the middle blockers, Keoni and Manaia, had contributed to the win, highlighting that they brought a completely different approach to the court from practice for good.
“They’all did really well, Keoni was a great blocker, and some of the things we see in practice, we just never know if they’re gonna execute them in matches, so it’s really impressive, and Manaia might not statistically have a great game, but she is as physical as ever,” she said (4:50).
The U21 phase starts soon and will premiere in Columbus, Ohio, on June 26.
