Lindsey Vonn showed her class and sportsmanship by congratulating US teammate Breezy Johnson after she won a bronze medal, even while she recovers from a painful crash of her own. The Olympian is currently recovering from a recent devastating crash in Switzerland.
Vonn suffered a serious crash during a World Cup downhill race in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, just one week before the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. The crash, which occurred in difficult conditions marked by poor visibility and heavy snow, left her with a left-knee surgery and forced her to withdraw from the final tune-up Super-G event. She was later taken by helicopter for medical evaluation as she awaits full assessment of her injury.
Despite the setback, Vonn took a moment to recognize the achievement of Johnson, who is a fellow American and teammate who has worked her way into the spotlight in recent seasons. In her recent race in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, she earned her first World Cup Super G podium by claiming third place.
The first two positions were secured by Malorie Blanc and Sofia Goggia, respectively. Reacting to their wins, Vonn reposted a picture of them posing after the win on her Instagram and wrote:
“What a great story. Swiss win after such tragedy feels good❤️@blancmalo. Congrats @breezyjohnson 💪. 🥈@sofiagoggia💪”
