Coco Gauff, Naomi Osaka, and many more wished a fast recovery to American alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn after a concerning update came to light. Just one week before the start of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, Vonn suffered a serious crash during the final downhill World Cup race in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
During a jump in the race, Vonn lost control, crashing into the safety net and injuring her left knee. She was limping and in visible pain. After skiing slowly to the finish, she was airlifted by helicopter for further medical evaluation. The race was canceled amid poor weather and multiple crashes.
On Friday, Vonn shared an update on her injury:
“I am discussing the situation with my doctors and team and will continue to undergo further exams. This is a very difficult outcome one week before the Olympics… but if there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s a comeback. My Olympic dream is not over. Thank you for all of the love and support. I will give more information when I have it. Thank you to all the medical staff who helped me today. I am grateful for all the incredible help I received.”
Vonn also wished well recovery to fellow ski racer Marta Monsen, who suffered a crash as well.
Under the comments section, several well-known figures in the tennis circles send their best wishes for Vonn’s recovery.
“get well soon ❤️❤️❤️” Gauff said.
“👏👏👏👏” Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian wrote.
“get well soon ❤️❤️ you’re amazing,” American gymnast Jade Carey wrote.
“Get well soon ❤️🩹” Naomi Osaka added.
“Sending you healing and positive energy Lindsey,” Kim Clijsters wrote.

Lindsey Vonn’s Olympic Participation Uncertain
Lindsey Vonn is a former Olympic gold medalist and four-time overall World Cup champion. Despite being at the age of 41, she was looking forward to participating in the Winter Olympics, but after the latest injury, it’s unclear if she would be able to recover in time. She wrote that her Olympic dream is “far from over.”
For Vonn to compete in the medal event on February 8, she must complete any one of the three training runs for the women’s Olympic downhill in Cortina d’Ampezzo, scheduled between February 5 and 7.
This season, Vonn was doing very well, finishing on the podium in seven out of eight races, including two downhill victories in St. Moritz and Zauchensee.
