Lindsey Vonn has reacted to Chloe Kim’s bold decision to participate in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy despite suffering a shoulder injury. Kim suffered an injury during her training session in Switzerland for the Laax Open last week.
She tore her labrum, which holds the socket and shoulder together. Although she will miss competing at the Laax Open, the American snowboarder said she would compete at the Winter Games next month. In a video on Instagram, Kim said that although she is disappointed with getting fewer opportunities to snowboard before the Quadrennial Games, she is happy she’ll recover fully ahead of the event.
“There are two different ways to do it, and the way I did it is less severe than the other, so I’m really happy about that,” said Kim. “Obviously, I’m really disappointed that I can’t snowboard until right before the Olympics, which is going to be hard. I haven’t gotten nearly the amount of reps that I would have liked, but that’s OK. It’s funny, I’ve been doing this for so long, and every season I’ve met different challenges. But again, I’m so grateful that I will be good to go for the Olympics.”
American skier Lindsey Vonn showed her support for the 25-year-old, writing:
“You got this.”

So far, Chloe Kim has appeared in the Olympics twice and won two gold medals in the halfpipe event.
Lindsey Vonn Makes Her Feelings Known About Competing At The Olympics For Fifth Time
Lindsey Vonn said that although she is not sure about the results, she is confident about giving her best at the Olympics. The 2026 edition will be Vonn’s final appearance at the Games.
“I am honored to be able to represent my country one more time, in my fifth and final Olympics!,” Vonn said in an Instagram post. “I always had one eye on Cortina because it’s a place that is very, very special to me. Although I can’t guarantee any outcomes, I can guarantee that I will give my absolute best every time I kick out of the starting gate. No matter how these Games end up, I feel like I’ve already won.”

Vonn returned to skiing after undergoing a knee replacement surgery in April 2024. The 41-year-old will join Mikaela Shiffrin in competing at the Games.
