    Harper Murray Shares Rare Family Photos Honoring Late Dad Vada on Death Anniversary

    Nebraska volleyball star Harper Murray penned an emotional statement for her dad, Vada Murray, on his death anniversary. This comes as Murray has been a frequent channeler of keeping her dad’s memory alive by consistently mentioning the impact he has had on her career.

    Harper Murray has been considered the most promising athlete on her team, with multiple honors on her sleeve. The three-time All-American has paid multiple tributes to her dad during her games via wearing a special jersey number in his remembrance, alongside honoring him consistently on social media.

    When she was just six years old, Murray lost her dad on April 6, 2011, to lung cancer. Ever since, she has wished for his presence in every game that she was a part of, including milestones and graduation ceremonies.

    On her dad’s death anniversary, Murray shared a childhood photo alongside her dad on Instagram. In the picture Vada Murray can be seen embracing his two daughters with cheery smiles across all faces. She added an emotional note, which read,

    15 yrs without you, i love you forever🪽

    Vada himself was a football player who played for the University of Michigan from 1986 to 1990. However, he had decided to instead put on a police uniform to serve his community, which he did for 21 years.

    Harper Murray Talks about Visiting Grief Centers to Comfort the Mourners

    Harper Murray has been a vocal supporter of giving all the time and space in the world to someone who has lost their loved ones and has consistently shared support through her social media.

    During an interview, Murray spoke about visiting the Mourning Hope Grief Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she spoke about being relatable through her presence and showcasing another side of her that people have rarely seen.

    “That was part of my growing process I wanted to give back, I wanted to show another side of me, and my mom and I thought it would be a good idea to go there and give back to them because I’ve been in their shoes and I know how they feel,” she said (6:50).

    She also highlighted how further connections can be deeply embedded between her and the community once they get the feeling that someone of her status, who has achieved great heights, can still feel the same kind of emotional pain that they are currently feeling.
