Gout Gout recorded yet another historic feat after registering a national record in the 200m event at the Athletics National Championships in Sydney. He broke his previous record and the 20-second barrier.
The 18-year-old clinched the win in 19.67 seconds in the final on Sunday. He surpassed his previous record of 20.02 seconds, which he posted during the Australian Athletics Championships last year. However, what stirred up the debate was the mention of the sprinter’s ethnicity, which, according to fans, did not acknowledge his Australian roots. One of the critics shared the video of the race while taking a dig at Gout’s nationality, writing:
“Ah yes the ‘Australian’ named Gout Gout lmao.”
The statement agitated the fans, with one of them writing:
“Rack off racist fascist! Gout was born in Ipswich, Queensland, on December 29, 2007. He was born IN AUSTRALIA. He was educated and raised in AUSTRALIA. He is coached by an AUSTRALIAN. So take your horrible bullsh*t away and shove it!”
“I wouldn’t expect you to understand, he was born and raised in Australia, he’s as much Australian as anyone born to British immigrants. In fact, his skin colour is more true Australian than any white person. F***tard.”
“Gosh, what basic research can net you: Born in Ipswich, Australia Raised in Australia Educated in Australia Trained, coached, competed and won IN Australia,” a fan chimed in.
Gout Gout makes his feelings known about registering the national and U20 World Record in the 200m
“Indeed. I mean, this is what I’ve been waiting for. You know, right before this final, one of my notes, I said I’m running 19.75 and 19.67,” Gout said. “I mean, we have such incredible athletes in Australia, and me being able to race these athletes, and they’ve raced me, we pushed each other to the limits and as you can see in that race, two Australians run top 20. I mean, this is amazing.”
