The the Met Gala is here and has once again captured some of the most stunning intersections of sports and glamour. Eileen Gu, Alysa Liu, and Lindsey Vonn transformed the steps of the Met into their personal podium by channeling an unapologetic energy, helping amplify what their athletic power looks like off the field.
The 2026 Met Gala continued shining its legacy at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, serving as a bold reminder of being fashion’s most exclusive stage for self-expression. Celebrities and athletes from across the globe, including Hollywood stars, music royalties, and athletes, descended the iconic steps and made stark statements with their attire that served as their personal manifesto of greatness.
Among the showstoppers were three Olympic icons who cracked the traditional gala look with their highly decorative, yet expressive, wardrobes that spoke more than they ever could. Freestyle skier Eileen Gu embodied this year’s “Custom Art” theme by wearing a bubble dress, filled with 15,000 glasses inside that used the latest hidden microprocessor tech to help the dress actually release floating bubbles during a walk.
Next in line was recent Olympic champion Alysa Liu, who debuted at the Gala with a custom Louis Vuitton-made high-low gown that displayed a bold, dissected look. She was seen posing in multiple different styles while cheering and waving to the crowd.
Legendary Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn made an entry with the night’s greatest mic drop that transpired through her red carpet walk with a cane to prove how crutches are no longer part of her current reality. She showed up just three months after bruising her leg at the Winter Olympics. The Olympian could be seen exiting the Pierre Hotel, wearing a body-hugging gown, which also featured a one-shoulder neckline.
Lindsey Vonn Shares Her Met Gala Excitement
Lindsey Vonn has been through enormous highs and lows since her devastating Milan-Cortina crash, which literally made her rethink her relationship with herself and the sport to another level. Despite the recent shakeups, the legendary skier showed up at fashion’s most prestigious evening with a defiant show of will, while talking to the media about her excitement to join the dance floor and have a good time.
“I’m not in paint and we’re gonna have a great night, I’m not sure how my dancing skills will be, I’m like one leg with a cane, but we will make it work,” she said (0:44).
Lindsey Vonn has been active on her social media throughout and, to this day, continues to share updates on her current endeavors.
