Amber Glenn Calls Out the Lack of Privacy After Protecting Kaori Sakamoto During Her Post-Skate Breakdown

Amber Glenn recently shared her take on athlete privacy after stepping in to support Kaori Sakamoto during an emotional moment following her skate. The latter broke down into tears after her figure skating final round at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The free skating final of the women’s figure skating took place on February 19, where the audience witnessed a sea of commanding performances. One of the favorites during this event was Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto, who eventually finished in the second position with an overall score of 224.90, behind America’s Alysa Liu, who stood atop the podium with 226.79 points.

Shortly after the scores were announced, Sakamoto faced an emotional moment, breaking down in tears. Amber Glenn rushed to console her, and a moment that was supposed to be private quickly became the focus as cameras and reporters quickly gathered.

A video of this moment went viral on social media, where Glenn was seen asking the cameramen to stop filming the Japanese skater crying. Responding to this video on TikTok, the American called out the lack of privacy with a comment that read:

“Dude, I know it’s their job, but they will get all up in your business when you clearly need space it’s wild!” wrote Amber Glenn.

After facing a fall in the heats, Glenn entered the finals on the 13th standing; however, she still managed to deliver a stunning performance, climbing up to the fifth position in the finals.

Amber Glenn made her feelings known about her comeback in the figure skating finals at the 2026 Winter Olympics

After facing one of the lowest points of her career in the qualifiers of the free skate at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Amber Glenn made a stunning comeback in the final round. Even though she didn’t secure a podium due to her compromised points in the qualifying round, she fought back with a clean performance.

The 26-year-old perfectly executed a clean triple axel, without even a slight fall, followed by a stunning skating routine. She claimed a fifth-place finish, recording an overall score of 214.53.

After this performance, she laid bare her experience, stating that she made her six-year-old proud. Talking about having her moment, she said:

“I made myself be happy about it. Deep down, of course, I know I could have done better, but I told myself enjoy it. I had my moment and my spiral, and told myself, ‘you just skated, stayed on your feet at the Olympics.’ I’m proud I had my moment,” said Amber Glenn.

    She added:

“That six-year-old girl who never thought I’d ever be here. I told myself to go out there, do your job, and I was working towards being able to have that spiral moment in the sequence. That was my reward. So it was chasing a goal.”

Amber Glenn went home with a gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics, which she claimed in the team event.
