Amber Glenn Gives Unfiltered Take On Her Shaky Performance in the Short Skate Program at the 2026 Winter Olympics

Amber Glenn reflected on her forgettable performance in the qualifying round of the figure skating event at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Shutting down the Olympic pressure narrative, she said that her mistakes led to the poor result.

On February 17, Glenn competed in the short skate program, where she performed on Madonna’s ‘Like a Prayer.’ She started her routine well, executing the triple axel. However, moments later, the momentum shifted when she made a mistake in her jump after doing the triple toe loop. This significantly damaged her final score, as she ended up with 67.39 points, in the 13th position.

Glenn broke down in tears on the Olympic stage. However, she has qualified for the finals, and although it might be a long shot after Tuesday’s mistake, she still has a chance for redemption. Shortly after this incident, she addressed the media. Admitting to her lack of balance, she clarified that it wasn’t the Olympic pressure that got to her.

“It wasn’t the pressure that got to me; it was just a literal lack of balance. Like, I just kind of, like lost my balance for a second. And, you know, stuff happens. I was a little bit noodly,” said Amber Glenn.

Before this event, she also participated in the team event and played a crucial role in helping her team win gold.

On February 6, Amber Glenn, Alysa Liu, and other team members of the USA women’s figure skating team competed in the team event. Overall, America scored 69 points from four events, including pair skating, ice dance, women’s single skating, and men’s single skating.

In the women’s single skating event, Glenn scored 138.62 points, which was ideal for securing third place. However, Ilia Malinin drove Team USA toward gold. After this victory, the women’s team appeared on the Today show, where they opened up about the wild celebrations after the win.

Sharing the details of the celebrations, Glenn said:

“It was chaos. Honestly, afterwards, so many things ensued. I know I was in the arena for about another two hours, so we didn’t leave until the early hours of the morning. But afterwards, we all got some rest, and now we’re here, which is absolutely incredible.”

She further praised her team, saying:

“Absolutely incredible. And I’m just so grateful for this team. They all put their heart and souls out there on the ice. And I’m just so happy to have been part of this.”

Up next, Amber Glenn will compete in the short skate finals on February 19 at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
