Alysa Liu recently received a major Oklahoma homecoming honor after her gold medal victories at the 2026 Winter Olympics. During this honor, her father, Arthur Liu, was seen at the event, proudly witnessing his daughter’s celebration. In addition, the figure skater also met Kehlani, who shared a heartfelt post for her.
Liu stole the spotlight at the Milan-Cortina campaign by winning two gold medals in the team event and the individual free skate program. In the team event, she played a major role, securing 74.90 and contributing significantly to her team’s win. Following this, she competed in the free skate finals, where she earned 226.79 points and stood atop the podium, becoming the first American in 24 years to win gold at the women’s figure skating championships.
Days after this, she was part of a major homecoming rally in her hometown, Oakland, at Frank Ogawa Plaza, on Thursday. Clips from the celebration are making rounds of the internet, and in one of them, her father’s reaction stole everyone’s attention.
An Instagram user posted a video of him cheerfully greeting the crowd and proudly recording everything on his phone. The video’s POV read:
“Alysa Liu’s dad recording the entire Alysa Liu celebration rally today in Oakland.”
Along with this, another thing that garnered attention was the American singer, Kehlani, who is also from Oakland, a tribute post for Liu on Instagram. She was one of the main performers in the rally, and she later shared moments with the figure skater, where they were seen hugging each other, and penned a caption that read:
“Oakland girls to the world. Welcome home @alysaxliu u deserve it all👑👑👑”
