“This Is What FAKE LOVE Looks Like”: Fans React as Chris Johnson Receives Long-Awaited Titans Honor Months After ALS Diagnosis

The Tennessee Titans announced today that Chris Johnson will be inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor on September 13. While some fans celebrated the news, others questioned why the honor came only after the former running back revealed he is diagnosed with ALS.

The announcement comes after the former NFL Offensive Player of the Year shared on June 29, 2026, that he has been diagnosed with ALS.

Several fans felt the Ring of Honor recognition should have come earlier.

One fan criticized the timing, writing: “This is what FAKE LOVE looks like. They waited until that man had a detrimental disease to finally give him his flowers! So disingenuous!”

Another wrote, “Way overdue and now a shame they waited this long.”

“Took long enough should’ve happen long before he got ALS,” one wrote.

Another fan added, “This long wait from the Titans makes the whole thing look dumb. Who even cares anymore.”

Some fans were happy that it was happening.

“It is great that they are honoring him, but the Pro Football Hall of Fame needs to step up next. His peak dominance was absolutely worthy of a gold jacket,” one wrote.

Johnson is one of the most electrifying running backs in NFL history. He spent six seasons with the Tennessee Titans after being selected 24th overall in the 2008 NFL Draft. He recorded 9,651 yards, 55 touchdowns, and 4.5 AVG in his career as per ESPN.

Titans owner Amy Adams praised Johnson’s impact on the field.

“Chris Johnson holds a special place in the hearts of our organization and our fans. His stats speak for themselves, and he will forever remain a leader in our record books, but the man behind the yardage deserves just as much celebration. We look forward to welcoming him home on Sept. 13 and officially inducting him into the Titans Ring of Honor.”

“His leadership on the field, in addition to his impact in the locker room and Nashville community have written him permanently into the story of this franchise. Learning this news is extremely difficult, and we will support Chris every step of the way throughout his journey. We are holding him and his family close, and join our fans around the world in expressing our love for Chris,” she added.

Johnson’s induction into the Ring of Honor will make him the 20th member of the prestigious group.
