The New England Patriots head coach, Mike Vrabel, has been the topic of conversation in this year’s offseason because of the Dianna Russini scandal that took place a couple of months ago.
The controversy started when Vrabel and Russini were spotted at an adults-only resort in Sedona, Arizona. At the same time, both parties denied any allegations of having an affair. Vrabel later took responsibility for his actions and said he hadn’t met the standards he holds himself to.
Many Patriots players, like Drake Maye, came forward to extend their support to Vrabel amid the controversy; however, analyst Sam Acho is still waiting to see how the team responds to the diversity once the season kicks off.
“So I’m excited for the long-term future of this team. The question is going to be for the current, for the present.“ Acho said on Thursday. “How does this New England Patriot team overcome adversity? There’s all the talk about the coach and what happened with him. All of a sudden, will this team come together? Will this team divide apart? I think the weaknesses have been addressed from an on-the-field perspective. My biggest concern is not just the strength of schedule on the outside, but the nucleus on the inside.”
Robert Kraft Gets 100% Clear on Mike Vrabel’s Dianna Russini Situation
The Patriots’ owner, Robert Kraft, has repeatedly spoken of his fondness for Mike Vrabel. After the Russini situation, many fans and analysts were curious about the 85-year-old’s opinion on it.
In a conversation with Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin, host Shae Cornette asked the Patriots owner about the “tumultuous offseason” the team’s head coach has had this year.
Responding to the question, Kraft said:
“Well, we’re privileged to have Mike as our head coach,” Kraft said on Friday. “You know, no one is infallible. And what’s great about Mike is that he has great intellectual knowledge about football, all the technical skills. He relates to the players beautifully. And he’s someone I have strong faith in. And I hope he’s going to be our head coach for many years to come.”
In response to the massive controversy, Russini quit her job at “The Athletic” after the organization launched an internal investigation into her.
