Stefon Diggs is facing trial this week over an alleged assault that took place in 2025 on his personal chef. In December last year, several media reports revealed that Diggs was being accused of strangulation and assault and battery stemming from a pay dispute with his personal chef.
The alleged incident happened on December 2. Diggs’ chef claimed that he struck her in the face and tried to choke her. After the alleged incident went public, the former New England Patriots wide receiver denied the allegations.
During the arraignment in February over the assault and strangulation charges, Diggs pleaded not guilty. The wide receiver was coming off a great season with the New England Patriots, where he helped them reach the Super Bowl.
Diggs’ on-field brilliance was overshadowed by the off-field drama, as the assault and strangulation charge wasn’t the only thing he was dealing with. For now, it’s the biggest issue at hand for the 32-year-old.
A video is being widely shared on social media, claiming that Diggs’ chef, who has pressed charges against him, was seen dancing after she was allegedly attacked. The video is making fans question whether her case has any merit.
“Lmao but this ain’t funny. These chicks lie so much and do exactly this afterwards,” a fan wrote.
“If I knew I just secured a lawsuit against a multi millionaire I’d be doing the same thing tbh,” a fan wrote.
“They cooked her in court. She was getting mad emotional. Catching her in all types of lies,” a fan wrote.
Not everyone started doubting her story after the video surfaced online. Some fans stated that people have their own different ways of dealing with trauma and that the video shouldn’t dismiss her claim.
“everyone deals with trauma differently this isn’t proof it didn’t happen,” a fan wrote.
“Everyone handles trauma in the way that seems best to them, she must have danced but not for joy but maybe a remedy to keep her cool,” a fan wrote.
More details on the case will come out soon as the trial has started. Until then, fans will continue to debate whether Diggs is guilty or innocent.
What’s Next for Stefon Diggs?
Diggs joined the league in 2015 after being picked in the fifth round by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2015 NFL Draft. He has played for four teams so far, making four Pro Bowl appearances, being the NFL receptions leader and receiving yards leader in 2020.
Diggs has not been able to win a Super Bowl yet. However, he came very close to realising that dream this year with the Patriots. He’s currently a free agent after being released by the Patriots in March.
It’ll be interesting to see where he’ll go next because, based on his last season’s performance, there’s still a lot of football left in him.
