The Seattle Seahawks shared a troubling update on defensive back Nick Emmanwori following Wednesday’s practice. The Seahawks will play the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium. They would want their rookie safety available for that game; however, the latest glimpse doesn’t look good.
Emmanwori picked up an ankle injury during a padded practice session ahead of Super Bowl LX vs. the Patriots. He got injured while defending a pass in practice. On the injury report, he was counted as a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice. It’s important to note that he walked off on his own power after the play.
After practice, when Emmanwori was making his way into his hotel in the evening hours, he was captured limping while getting out of the vehicle in the Bay Area. However, he was not wearing a walking boot or using crutches, which suggests the injury might not be serious.
Emmanwori had a fine first year with Seattle, which earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC. He recorded 81 tackles, 11 pass deflections, 2.5 sacks, and one interception in 14 games. The safety was selected No. 35 in the 2025 NFL Draft out of South Carolina.
Seahawks HC Updates On Nick Emmanwori’s Injury
Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said that Nick Emmanwori will undergo imaging first thing in the morning and based on that, they’ll determine the next steps forward.
“He had an ankle today, we brought him in to look at it, and we’ll kind of go from here and figure out what are the next steps,” Macdonald said.
After Wednesday’s practice, Macdonald also shared an update on quarterback Sam Darnold, who was also reported on the injury report as a limited participant.
“Sam’s right on schedule,” Mike Macdonald said. “So we’ve had this plan over here the last X amount of weeks, and it varies every day. And today he had a great day, so we’re right on schedule.”
Darnold is suffering from an oblique injury. Both he and Emmanwori are important for Seattle.
