Shedeur Sanders Drops Bold 3-Word Comment As Browns Hire Todd Monken As 19th Head Coach

Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns have found their new head coach. After weeks of searching and conducting interviews, the Browns announced that they have finalized Todd Monken for the job.

Monken, a former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator, is now being handed the responsibility to take over the franchise from Kevin Stefanski, who was fired earlier this month after a terrible 5-12 season.

Fans have a mixed reaction to Monken’s hiring. He has no prior head coaching experience and doesn’t have a proven track record of winning. However, their quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, is hyped to get a new coach.

After the Browns announced Monken as the head coach, Sanders shared the team’s post on his Instagram story and wrote a motivating three-word caption.

“Time to work,” Sanders wrote with a fire emoji and a watch.

Sanders doesn’t seem to be bothered by the outside noise. He probably sees the potential in Monken at the head coaching position and knows something that most people don’t. There’s another important thing to notice here.

Any franchise’s success depends on the relationship between its head coach and the quarterback. Sanders being welcoming and ready to get to work with Monken is an incredibly positive sign for the franchise.

However, those who are questioning Monken’s hiring aren’t entirely wrong either. Since he doesn’t have any prior head coaching experience in the NFL, it’s understandable why some people have their doubts.

Monken has been coaching players since the ‘90s in his capacity as position coach. He has one head coaching stint on his resume in college football when he coached the Southern Miss Golden Eagles from 2013 to 2015.

For now, it’s best to give Monken a chance to prove himself. The Browns aren’t coming off a brilliant season, so there’s no standard to live up to. As long as he wins more games than he loses, it’ll be a good start for him.

Jimmy Haslam’s 120-Day Plan for Shedeur Sanders and Co.

Earlier this month, after Stefanski was fired, the Browns’ owner, Jimmy Haslam, said that the next 120 days would be very important for his team. In that time, he expects the team to tie up all loose ends and be ready for the next season.

Finding the right head coach was at the top of Haslam’s priority list.

“Let me just say this, the next 120 days are crucial for the organization,” he said. “We’ve got to find the right head coach. We’ve got to be efficient again in free agency. We have 10 draft picks, including two number ones. We have four picks in the top three rounds. And we’ve got to get really good players who are really good people again.”

In addition to that, Haslam said that the team also needs to take advantage of trade opportunities that come their way. That’ll be their foundation for a great next season.
