Colin Kaepernick Reportedly Debunks $2,800,000,000 Rapper’s Claims On NFL Exit

Colin Kaepernick’s muted exit from the NFL was brought back into the spotlight when Jay-Z (who boasts a $2.8bn net worth, per Celebrity Net Worth) rapped about the incident in a freestyle during his show at Yankee Stadium.

Jay-Z claimed the former 49ers quarterback signed a ‘non-disparagement’ deal with the NFL for monetary gain and agreed to step away from the sport, something the New York legend would never do.

“They run out of characters, had to bring back up Kap again. Buddy took a check, I ain’t even mad at him, but along with that check you have to sign a non-disparagement. I’m the one they can’t control.”

However, days after the freestyle went viral on social media, Colin Kaepernick’s camp denied any such claims, per a report obtained by TMZ.

Jay-Z’s claim also falls apart when looking at Kaepernick’s social media posts over the years, in which he has remained critical of NFL teams for not taking a chance on him despite being completely injury-free.

Colin Kaepernick’s Journey With The NFL

A second-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Kaepernick joined the 49ers after turning down an offer from the Chicago Cubs. After just three appearances in his rookie season, Kaepernick kicked off his tenure as a starter with a bang, leading the team to the Super Bowl in 2012.

During this postseason run, Kaepernick also broke the record for most rushing yards by a quarterback, previously held by Michael Vick, with 181 yards in a 45-31 Divisional Round win over the Green Bay Packers. The team eventually fell short of the championship against the Ravens.

The 49ers’ attempts to return to the Super Bowl the following year were thwarted by the Seahawks’ Legion of Doom, which limited Kaepernick to 153 passing yards and 130 rushing yards, along with two interceptions. Kaepernick did not make the playoffs in his remaining years with the 49ers after that defeat.

After becoming a free agent in 2017, despite receiving visits from multiple franchises, Kaepernick was not signed by any team, allegedly because of his off-field statements.
