Seattle Seahawks Logo History Explained Ahead of Super Bowl 2026 Showdown

The Seattle Seahawks boast one of the most recognizable logos in the NFL. The logo has had two major transformations since it was first introduced when the team debuted in 1976, but its original identity remains intact.

The Seahawks logo is heavily inspired by Northwest Coast Indigenous art, specifically a Kwakwakaʼwakw (which is pronounced: KWA-kwuh-kyuh-wakw as per the Burke Museum) transformation mask from British Columbia.

The original logo was a stylized, royal blue and green bird with a straight beak. Interestingly, the nickname describes an osprey, but the bird in the logo is not an osprey. After nearly 25 years, the Seahawks’ logo became more modernized.

From 2002 to 2011, the Seahawks franchise underwent a lot of changes, including stadium and conference, and their logo received a makeover as well during that era. The logo artwork in that era added an arched eyebrow, with “Seahawks blue” being the dominant color.

Overall, the team’s logo appeared more aggressive, setting up the tone for the franchise. In 2013, Nike became the official uniform supplier for the Seahawks, and once again, some alterations were made to the logo.

To be more fitting in the modern era, the logo was made sharper and more aggressive without compromising its core. Navy, white, and neon green became the core colors for the Seattle Seahawks.

The influence of Pacific Northwest coastal nations makes the Seahawks logo a standout among the other teams.

The Seattle Seahawks Are in the Super Bowl

The Seahawks have been one of the most successful teams in the NFL in the last 20 years. Since 2003, they’ve been to the playoffs 16 times. The Seahawks have won 10 division championships and four conference titles in that period.

While they haven’t been to the Super Bowl in a long time, the Seahawks know what it’s like to be a Super Bowl winner. They took a trip to the main event at Super Bowl XLVIII and put up a clinical performance against the Denver Broncos.

The Seahawks won 43-8, and it became their first, and until now, only Super Bowl win. Now they have an opportunity to add another Vince Lombardi Trophy to their trophy cabinet. They’ll face the New England Patriots in the final.

The Seahawks are the favorites to win the title this year. Although the gap between the two teams isn’t significant, Seattle’s defense has earned them the favorite tag heading into the Super Bowl on February 8.
