Chris Johnson Opens Up About Dealing With ALS

In the same interview, Chris Johnson shared his journey of getting to know about his diagnosis, sharing that he first felt some weakness in his hands.

Johnson then shared that while he and his family were hoping that it was something other than ALS, the doctors told them that their only option would be to try medications, hoping to extend life by a few months.

“It was hard hearing that, but after watching ‘Good Morning America’ and seeing Dr. Merit Cudkowicz, we reached out to her. She was willing to think more creatively, offering experimental treatments that might help and advance research,” Johnson said.

Johnson added that having doctors who are willing to collaborate and explore every potential option has meant a lot to him and his family.

The 2009 Offensive Player of the Year also said that while there isn’t a cure right now, he is seeing more research on the topic, along with clinical ideas, which are giving him a lot of hope for the future.
