Fernando Mendoza, who was drafted as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft by the Las Vegas Raiders, has been one of the best players to come out of the Indiana Hoosiers.
Mendoza’s journey at Indiana was remarkable; not only did he help them win a national championship, but he also had an NIL valuation of $2.6 million.
During an interview posted on 29th June, FOS reporter David Rumsey asked Mendoza whether he planned to give back to Indiana to help keep its powerhouse running.
Mendoza responded, saying that he doesn’t have any plans to donate to Indiana right now, as he is using his charitable resources to donate to Miami, to support their fight against Multiple Sclerosis, a disease that his mom suffers from.
Fernando Mendoza Opens Up About Learnings From 7x Super Bowl Champ Tom Brady
Fernando Mendoza has expressed his excitement about learning from Tom Brady since he was preparing to be drafted by the Raiders.
In a video posted on the Raiders’ YouTube channel on 18th June, Mendoza spoke about how he is learning from Brady.
“I usually like to keep the talks between Tom and me private. I do think what he said as a quarterback is you need to be the most everything,” Mendoza said. “You need to be the most competitive. You need to be the most leader — you have to have the most leadership. You need to be the toughest, mentally and physically.”
Mendoza also highlighted the advice from Brady that resonated with him: a quarterback should lead by example before earning the equity and respect of his teammates.
