Chris Johnson is one of the greatest running backs in NFL history. He earned the nickname “CJ2K” after recording 2,000 rushing yards in a single season.
As per CelebrityNetWorth, Johnson’s estimated net worth is $14 million.
He entered the NFL in 2008 after being the No. 24 overall pick in the draft. Before going pro, he played at East Carolina. In 2009, he earned the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award and first-team All-Pro recognition.
Throughout his career, he played for the Tennessee Titans, New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals, and has been nominated for the Pro Bowl three times.
Chris Johnson reportedly earned $45.7 million in NFL salary alone during his playing career. And his biggest pay jump came during the 2011 season, when he signed a four-year extension with the Titans worth $54 million, with $30 million guaranteed.
He was released sooner by Tennessee in 2014 and did not receive the full value of the contract.
Chris Johnson Reveals ALS Diagnosis
On Monday morning, Johnson shared heartbreaking personal news. He revealed that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2025.
Speaking during an interview with Michael Strahan on “Good Morning America,” Johnson opened up about the situation.
“There’s no history of ALS in my family,” Johnson said. “My doctors believe my case is what’s called sporadic ALS, which is actually how the vast majority of ALS cases happen. That’s one of the reasons this disease can be so shocking. It can happen to someone who never expected it.”
Johnson shared that he is participating in clinical research and using his platforms to raise awareness about ALS. He said:
“I want people to know that I’m still me. ALS has changed what my body can do, but it hasn’t changed who I am. People sometimes look at the physical disability and assume you’re not still the same person inside. I still think the same. I still dream. I still love my family. My body just doesn’t cooperate.”
Following the announcement, support poured in from across the NFL community. Fans and football stars expressed their concern for the former All-Pro running back as he continues his fight against ALS.
