The head coaching carousel for this offseason has come and gone as the last two teams (Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals) recently agreed to terms on who their next head coaches will be.
In total, there were 10 total head coaching vacancies open this offseason. The Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Buffalo Bills found replacements at head coach for the upcoming season in the last few weeks.
With there being a lot of change at coaching for next season, let’s take a look at the biggest winners of this year’s head coaching carousel.
Ranking Biggest Winners of Head Coaching Carousel This Offseason
New York Giants
John Harbaugh won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens in 2012. Since then, he’s failed to reach the Super Bowl, but has been one of the most consistent coaches in the NFL, having made the postseason 12 out of 18 seasons and winning six division titles.
With the pieces NY has in place (Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo, Malik Nabers, and a talented defense) some think that Harbaugh’s stint with NY could be similar to Andy Reid’s stint with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Though they didn’t make any changes at head coach or at their coordinator positions, the Jacksonville Jaguars deserve a spot on this list. Both of their coordinators (offensive coordinator Grant Udinksi, defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile.)
In their first season under head coach Liam Coen, Udinski and Campanile had some of the best units in the NFL. Because of that, they each got multiple head coaching interviews this offseason. After everything played out, the Jags retained both, with teams deciding to go with other coaches.
Las Vegas Raiders
Though he hasn’t been officially hired by the Las Vegas Raiders, Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and the organization are expected to agree to terms on a deal to make him their next head coach following the Super Bowl.
Kubiak brings over a ton of experience, and what better coach to have than a guy who is coaching in this year’s Super Bowl? Kubiak will inherit an offense featuring running back Ashton Jeanty and tight end Brock Bowers while holding the No. 1 pick in the draft (expected to be Fernando Mendoza.)
Kansas City Chiefs
Eric Bieniemy won two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs as its offensive coordinator. While he was with the team from 2018-2022, he coaches for the Washington Commanders, UCLA Bruins, and Chicago Bears in the last three seasons.
KC has struggles offensively in recent years, and Andy Reid brought him back as their offensive coordinator to restore the offense.
