Minnesota Vikings quarterback J. J. McCarthy got married earlier this month. He posted pictures from his marriage ceremony on Instagram in a joint post with his wife, Katya Kuropas. They got married on 4/11/2026.
Family and close friends of McCarthy and Kuropas were in attendance at the wedding. The picturesque venue had the ocean in the backdrop, and they posted pictures outlining different moments from the ceremony.
Friends and teammates showed love to the couple in the comments of the post. The New England Patriots quarterback, Drake Maye’s wife, Ann Michael Maye, commented, “So beautiful!!! Congratulations!!”
Jim Harbaugh’s daughter, Grace, commented, “congrats, you look beautiful !!” Harbaugh, the former Michigan Wolverines head coach, led the program when McCarthy played for the Wolverines from 2021 to 2023.
McCarthy met Kuropas in 2018 when he was a sophomore in high school. They’ve been dating for nearly seven years. In January 2025, McCarthy penned a heartfelt note for Kuropas for her 22nd birthday.
“I’d go to hell and back for her. She’s my everything – my muse, my rock, and the heart of my universe. There is never a J without a K standing her ground behind him. For what is a flame without its wick. A Viking without a star to guide him. Thank you forever, my love, for never wavering when the inevitable storms arise on our voyage together,” he wrote on Instagram.
After years of dating, McCarthy and Kuropas got engaged in 2024. She has been a steady presence in his career. Katya often shows up for his games, supporting the star quarterback from the stands.
J. J. McCarthy’s Starting QB Role Might Be Under Threat
The Minnesota Vikings haven’t had a good run in the last few years. They haven’t made the playoffs since 2024, and they’re in desperate need of a turnaround. The Vikings signed Kyler Murray earlier this year, who previously played for the Arizona Cardinals.
ESPN’s Damien Woody believes that Murray’s presence might be a threat to McCarthy’s starting QB role.
“I think this is spelling the end for J.J. McCarthy. Kyler Murray did not sign with Minnesota to be anyone’s backup. I think Kyler Murray’s talent and the infrastructure around him is going to allow him to excel. If you’re Minnesota, do you want the same thing that happened with Sam Darnold playing in Minnesota?” he said.
If that happens, McCarthy’s role will be cut short, which might prompt another major change within the franchise.
