Justin Fields Free Agency: Insider Reveals Jets’ Clear Stance On QB After 3-14 Season

Justin Fields signed a two-year, $40 million with the New York Jets last offseason. $30 million of the $40 million contract was guaranteed, with an easy way for the Jets to get out of contract after year 1 if they decided to do so.

With free agency and the NFL Draft approaching, the belief around the league is that the Jets will release Fields soon, and will move on from him for this upcoming season.

Fields started nine games for the Jets last season and went 2-7 as a starter, completing 62.7 percent of his passes for 1,259 yards, seven touchdowns, one interception, and rushed for 383 yards and four touchdowns.

Fields was drafted in the first-round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears and is set to join the a fourth team in the offseason.

Jets Reportedly Could Target Kyler Murray

The New York Jets will head into the 2025-2026 season with a new starting quarterback. The question is who?

One possible target is Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. It’s no secret that the Cardinals are looking to get rid of Murray whether it’s by trade or release. Of course, they’d like to get something in return for him if they can.

Jets’ head coach Aaron Glenn has a relationship with Murray’s father and should the Jets pursue him, maybe that connection can help set up a new landing spot for Murray.

The Jets also have the second and 16th overall picks in this year’s draft and are in prime position to select a top quarterback prospect. The QB class is a weaker one, so that could also force the Jets to try to acquire Murray even more.

In his career, Murray has a 38-48-1 career regular season and has led the Cardinals to the postseason once. He hasn’t been able to put together a winning season since 2021, and a fresh start could benefit both he and the Cardinals.
