Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini haven’t caught a break since Page Six first published their pictures from a resort in Sedona, Arizona. The New England Patriots head coach and a former The Athletic NFL reporter have since been targeted over their extramarital affair.
The scandal coming to light in the offseason played a huge role in keeping the spotlight on their affair. A lot has been said in the media and by fans online over the last month, while new information continues to surface.
Amid all the chaos, Vrabel has received some support from the NFL community. Some notable people have pushed back on the idea that the Patriots should fire him over the ongoing controversy.
Recently, Asante Samuel, a former NFL cornerback and two-time Super Bowl champion, responded to Vrabel’s critics, calling them out for questioning his leadership.
“Don’t be a cornball your entire life fam. Mike Vrabel is a leader of men period,” the $12 million worth (as per Celebrity Net Worth) former NFL star wrote.
NFL legend Shannon Sharpe has also spoken in favor of Vrabel. Sharpe, while discussing the controversy on an episode of Nightcap, said that he doesn’t condone Vrabel’s affair, but asking the franchise to fire him as head coach is unfair.
Sharpe referred to former Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore as an example to make his point. The Michigan Wolverines fired Moore after his inappropriate relationship with a staff member came to light.
Sharpe said that in Moore’s case, he had an affair with someone within the organization.
“Dianna Russini does not work for the Patriots. Mike Vrabel does not work for ESPN,” Sharpe said. “Those situations are totally different. Those are people that worked at that institution.”
Although the demands to fire Vrabel have been loud over the last few weeks, he will likely remain their head coach going into the next season.
Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini Rented a Boat Together
TMZ recently added another chapter to the ongoing Mike Vrabel – Dianna Russini controversy. In their report, TMZ claimed that Vrabel and Russini rented a private boat together in June 2021 and spent a few hours on the boat.
“Documents, obtained by TMZ Sports, show both signed the company waiver before heading out on a lake … and our source says there was no visible PDA before they departed,” TMZ reported. “We’re also told Vrabel and Russini appeared cautious about photos being taken.”
TMZ stated that Russini was pregnant at the time, in June 2021, with her first son. She refused to take any pictures with the staff while Vrabel clicked a picture, but asked them not to post it anywhere.
